Ecology of Iranian Forest

  Since forest parks have high importance in urban environment, evaluation of outdoor recreation potential and identification of the suitable regions for outdoor recreation usage in forest parks is necessary . In this research, the suitable areas for intensive and extensive outdoor recreation, their various degrees and outdoor recreation potential of Sorkhehesar forest park was identified using systemic analysis method and Makhdoum tourism ecological model using GIS. Five ecological parameters (slope, aspect, elevation, soil and vegetation cover density) were used to perform this research and to evaluate outdoor recreation potential of Sorkhehesar forest park regarding to Makhdoum tourism ecological model. Results showed that whole of Sorkhehesar forest park have outdoor recreation usage capability and tourist attract potential. Therefore it is suggested that role of other effective factors on outdoor recreation such as accessibility, water resources and recreation facilities also investigate to identify recreation potential of outdoor areas.
