   موجودی منابع جنگلی و برآورد حجم نقش مهمی در شناخت وضعیت موجود در جنگل‌ها و مدیریت پایدار این منابع دارد. با داده‌های دقیق در مورد حجم چوب، مدیران می‌توانند تصمیمات مناسبی بگیرند و استمرار در زراعت چوب را تضمین کنند. ضریب شکل یکی از مهم‌ترین مشخصه‌های تعیین حجم دقیق درختان است. هدف از این پژوهش تعیین ضریب شکل گونه پالونیا (Paulownia fortunei) و مقایسه ضریب شکل‌های واقعی با طبیعی، مصنوعی و هوهنادل است. در این تحقیق برای گونه پالونیا در طرح جنگل داری دکتر بهرام ­نیا استان گلستان، چهار نوع ضریب شکل، واقعی، طبیعی، مصنوعی و هوهنادل ارزیابی شد. بدین منظور ۲۰ اصله درخت به‌طور تصادفی بر اساس طبقات قطری انتخاب شدند. از هر درخت اطلاعات ارتفاع درختان موردنظر، قطر برابرسینه، قطر در ۱/۰، ۳/۰، ۵/۰، ۷/۰ و ۹/۰ ارتفاع درخت، سپس از هر درخت قطعات ۲ متری جدا شد و قطر ابتدا و انتهای هر قطعه ۲ متری اندازه‌گیری شد. همچنین ارتفاع و قطر کنده و طول درخت نیز اندازه‌گیری شد. برای محاسبه حجم دقیق تنه از جمع حجم‌های دومتری و کنده با استفاده از فرمول اسمالیان انجام‌شده سپس ضریب شکل‌های واقعی، مصنوعی، طبیعی و هوهنادل برای هر پایه محاسبه شدند. نتایج نشان داد که ضریب شکل پالونیا با استفاده از فرمول‌های واقعی، طبیعی، مصنوعی و هوهنادل به ترتیب ۴۰۸/۰، ۴۲۷/۰، ۳۰۴/۰ و ۴۱۶/۰ بود. همچنین نتایج آزمون t جفتی نشان داد که تفاوت معنی‌داری در سطح اطمینان ۹۵ درصد بین ضریب شکل مصنوعی و واقعی وجود داشت (۰۵/۰p>)، اما بین ضریب شکل‌های واقعی با هوهنادل و طبیعی در سطح اطمینان 95 درصد تفاوت معنی‌داری وجود نداشت (۰۵/۰p<). با توجه به نتایج این پژوهش، می‌توان نتیجه‌گیری کرد که ضریب شکل هوهنادل و طبیعی به دلیل عدم تفاوت معنی‌داری و نزدیک بودن به ضریب شکل واقعی می‌تواند به‌عنوان ضریب شکل مناسب برای پالونیا مورداستفاده قرار گیرند.
