مقدمه و هدف: ریشه گیاهان یکی از مهمترین مصالح زنده جهت تثبیت و تسلیح خاک دامنه ها و شیروانی­های جاده ­­­های جنگلی می­ باشد. این مطالعه به منظور بررسی مقاومت کششی ریشه گونه­ های درختی با توجه به تغییرات میزان لیگنین، سلولز و مواد استخراجی از ریشه  انجام شد.
مواد و روش‌ها: این مطالعه در جنگل دارابکلا استان مازندران انجام شد. برای تعیین مقاومت کششی ریشه درختان، نمونه ­های ریشه از درختان راش، ممرز، توسکا، آزاد، انجیلی و بلوط بلندمازو به روش حفر چاله جمع آوری و آزمایش مقاومت کششی با استفاده از دستگاه اینسترون برای آنها انجام شد. همچنین میزان لیگنین، سلولز، خاکستر و مواد استخراجی برای ریشه گونه­ های مختلف درختی با استفاده از تجزیه شیمیایی اندازه­ گیری شد. به منظور مقایسه مقاومت کششی ریشه ­های گونه­ های درختی از تجزیه واریانس یک­طرفه استفاده شد. همچنین از تحلیل چند متغیره تشخیص برای تعیین معنی‌داری و طبقه ­بندی گونه ها بر اساس مقادیر سلولز، لیگنین، خاکستر و مواد مستخرجی استفاده شد.
یافته‌ها: بیشترین مقاومت کششی برای گونه بلوط (MPa70/1) و انجیلی ( MPa 60/1) و کمترین مقاومت کششی برای گونه­ های توسکا ( MPa 41/2) و راش( MPa45/3) ثبت شد. نتایج نشان داد در گونه­ های راش، توسکا و انجیلی میزان لیگنین بالا­تر از میزان سلولز اندازه­ گیری شده است. درحالی­که در گونه آزاد سلولز بیشترین سهم را دارد. در گونه راش و توسکا که مقادیر لیگنین آنها بیشتر است، میانگین مقاومت کششی اندازه­ گیری شده از سایر گونه­ ها کمتر و برای گونه  بلوط و ممرز که مقادیر سلولز آنها بیشتر ثبت شد، مقاومت کششی بیش از سایر گونه­ ها می­ باشد. نتایج تحلیل تشخیص نشان می­دهد سه گروه با درصد انطباق­ پذیری بالا توسکا-راش، ممرز-آزاد و انجیلی-بلوط تشکیل شده است که با توجه به نتایج آزمایش­های مقاومت کششی و تجزیه شیمایی ریشه وضعیت تقریباً مشابهی دارند.
نتیجه‌گیری: با توجه به نتایج این مطالعه بررسی میزان لیگنین و سلولز ریشه گونه­ های مختلف و همچنین توجه به تحلیل تشخیص و گروه ­بندی گونه ­ها با در نظر گرفتن چند عامل می ­تواند به محققان در تصمیم­ گیری برای انتخاب گونه مناسب پروژه­ های زیست­ مهندسی کمک زیادی نماید.
