Awareness of quality and quantity of wood produced in forestry plans play an important role in management of this product in market. The objective of this study that has been carried out in 7th watershed of north forest of Iran was to determine effective factors on wood breakage in felled trees, compare wood losses during felling and identify wood losses in felled trees and methods of their prevention. In order to estimation of wood losses during felling by chainsaw and its value losses, 249 trees randomly selected. After tree felling wood losses on trees trunk was measured. Evaluation effective factors on wood losses in felled trees and comparison between averages of wood losses between felling group was done by nonlinear regression and analysis of variance respectively. Final result showed that tree diameter and height have significant effect on brooked trees and increasing of these factors will increase the wood losses in felled trees. Significant differences in mean wood looses didn’t existed among felling groups. The present study showed that wood losses prevention methods during felling operation increase value equivalent 222000 Rial per every felled trees. Having a regular training program for all persons employed in this part of forest management is essential so with decreasing of wood losses, Income from wood sales will increase simultaneously.
