مقدمه و هدف: برای برنامه ­ریزی اصولی و صحیح در بخش جنگل، تهیه نقشه ­های کمی و کیفی از ملزومات مدیریتی بوده و برای رسیدن به توسعه پایدار اجتناب ناپذیر است. به­ همین منظور، جدیدترین اطلاعات از مشخصاتی که در تصمیم­ گیری­ های مربوط به استفاده و حفاظت بهینه از جنگل دارای اهمیت هستند، مورد نیاز است. هدف از این مطالعه، مدل­سازی و تهیه نقشه مکانی برخی مشخصه­ های کمی جنگل با استفاده از خصوصیات توپوگرافی در جنگل­ های سری سه سنگده است.
مواد و روش­ ها: با استفاده از 150 قطعه نمونه 10 آری، مشخصه­ های تعداد، رویه زمینی و حجم در هکتار محاسبه شد. خصوصیات اولیه توپوگرافی شامل ارتفاع از سطح دریا، شیب، جهت شیب، انحنای پروفیلی، انحنای مسطح و انحنای مماسی و خصوصیات ثانویه توپوگرافی شامل رطوبت و تابش خورشیدی از مدل رقومی ارتفاعی با قدرت تفکیک­ پذیری ده متر استخراج شد. سپس روابط بین مشخصه­ های کمی جنگل و خصوصیات توپوگرافی با استفاده از روش ­های ناپارامتری جنگل تصادفی، ماشین بردار پشتیبان و هم­چنین با روش پارامتری رگرسیون خطی چندگانه مورد تجزیه و تحلیل و مدل­سازی قرار گرفت. ارزیابی مدل­ ها با استفاده از 30 درصد قطعات نمونه انجام شد.
یافته­ ها: مقادیر درصد اریبی و ریشه میانگین مربعات خطا برای انتخاب مدل مناسب محاسبه و نتایج نشان داد که روش ماشین­ بردار پشتیبان برای برآورد هر سه مشخصه اندازه ­گیری شده دارای بهترین نتایج بوده است. در برآورد تعداد در هکتار، تابع چند جمله ­ای درجه سه با مقادیر میانگین مربعات خطا و میزان اریبی به ترتیب 9/59=%RMSE و 1/62-=%Bias، رویه ­زمینی با تابع پایه شعاعی (RBF) و مقادیر 30/53=%RMSE و 1/32-=%Bias و حجم در هکتار نیز با تابع چند جمله ­ای درجه سه و مقادیر 37/62=%RMSE و 0/51-=%Bias به ­عنوان مناسب­ترین مدل انتخاب شدند. هم­چنین نتایج نشان داد که متغیرهای توپوگرافی جهت، ارتفاع، تابش خورشیدی و انحنای مماسی بیشترین تأثیر را در فرآیند مدل­سازی داشتند.
نتیجه ­گیری: مدل انتخاب شده در این پژوهش هر چند که توانست تا حدی اطلاعات ضروری جهت مدیریت جنگل­ها را فراهم کند، اما به ­تنهایی نمی ­تواند کلیه دلایل مؤثر بر مشخصه­ ها را تبیین نماید، لذا شایسته است از ترکیب عوامل دیگری مانند شرایط اقلیمی، عرض جغرافیایی، خاک­شناسی، تکنیک ­های سنجش از دور که سهم  عمده­ ای در توضیح و تفسیر آن دارند، دقت پیش­ بینی را بهبود بخشید.
