  در این تحقیق قابلیت تصاویر ماهواره‌ای  Rapid Eyeدر تهیه نقشه پراکنش تاج­پوشش درختان بلوط در جنگل‌های زاگرس، در منطقه جنگلی دشت­ برم شهرستان کازرون استان فارس مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. در این مطالعه کیفیت داده­ ها به لحاظ هندسی و رادیومتری مورد بررسی قرار گرفت و تصحیح هندسی تصاویر با استفاده از روش چند­جمله­ای و با استفاده از نقاط کنترل زمینی با دقت مناسب انجام شد. به منظور بررسی بکارگیری باندهای مصنوعی حاصل از پردازش ­های مناسب در فرآیند طبقه ­بندی، تصاویر شاخص­های طیفی مناسب  گیاهی از طریق نسبت‌گیری باندها و تصاویر مولفه ­های اصلی با استفاده از تجزیه مؤلفه‌های اصلی ایجاد شدند. نقشه واقعیت زمینی تاج­پوشش درختان با اندازه ­گیری محدوده تاج درختان در قطعات نمونه‌ی مربعی شکل با مساحت 400 متر­مربع به‌صورت تصادفی در منطقه تهیه شد. 70 درصد از قطعات نمونه به‌عنوان نمونه تعلیمی و 30 درصد بقیه به‌عنوان نمونه آزمون به‌صورت تصادفی انتخاب شدند. طبقه­ بندی به دو صورت نقطه و پلیگون با دو الگوریتم بیشینه احتمال و ماشین­بردار پشتیبان، بر روی تصویراصلی، باند­های پردازش‌شده و ترکیب تصویر اصلی با باندهای پردازش‌شده صورت گرفت. نتایج ارزیابی صحت نقشه­ ها در این مطالعه نشان داد که بالاترین صحت کلی و ضریب کاپا به ­ترتیب با مقدار 52/98 درصد و 97/0؛ در حالت نقطه‌ای با باند­های پردازش‌شده و الگوریتم ­های بیشینه احتمال و همچنین با ترکیب تصویراصلی با باندهای پردازش‌شده و الگوریتم ماشین­ بردار پشتیبان ( SVM )، بوده است. همچنین در طبقه ­بندی به‌صورت پلیگون، بالاترین صحت کلی و ضریب کاپا مربوط به نقشه­ های طبقه­ بندی شده بااستفاده از باند­های پردازش‌شده، با مقدار 50/87 درصد و 75/0 با الگوریتم بیشینه احتمال و 78/90 درصد و ضریب‌ کاپای 81/0 با الگوریتم ماشین­بردار پشتیبان بوده است. به­ طور کلی نتایج این مطالعه نشان داد که تصاویر Rapid Eyeبرای تهیه نقشه پراکنش تاج­ پوشش درختان جنگلی در جنگل­های زاگرس دارای قابلیت مناسب می­ باشد.
